What is The Survival Protein?

Share on:

Our bodies are built to survive—even at all costs. But what does this mean, and how does the body’s survival response impact health and longevity?

In simple terms, it means that our biochemical reactions to stressful events and triggers—our innate survival responses—can actually damage health. This isn’t a secret—the links between stress and disease are well established, showing how chronic stress can fuel cardiovascular disease, cancer, autoimmune conditions, and much more.

What many people don’t know, however, is that there is one key protein produced by the body that drives our biochemical stress responses—and also fuels our most deadly and debilitating conditions: Galectin-3, aka the survival protein.

What is Galectin-3?

While you may have not heard of galectin-3, thousands of published scientific studies show that when it gets out of control, it activates and drive numerous disease processes, and shortens your life. There are over three thousand clinical and preclinical studies published showing galectin-3’s role in cancer, heart disease and kidney failure, obesity, neurodegenerative disease including Alzheimer’s, autoimmunity, arthritis, mold and mycotoxin illness, mast cell activation, and much more. Galectin-3 also forms the structural backbone of biofilm formations in the body, which sequester toxins and pathogens in inflamed, isolated areas that are shielded from immune surveillance and treatments.1,2

Despite this large and fast-growing body of data, most people—including the majority of conventional doctors—are not familiar with this single molecule. But as the research continues, more people are starting to pay attention to galectin-3, and successfully manage it using the most researched galectin-3 blocker: clinically proven Modified Citrus Pectin.3

The Survival Protein – Pilot Light for Inflammation

When your body senses a threat, it goes into survival mode. As part of this defense response, galectin-3 is activated as a key repair molecule to help you stay alive. Galectin-3 is the master alarm  that triggers a cascade of inflammatory cytokine signals to respond to whatever threat you’re facing.

But in today’s age of heightened toxin exposure, uncontrolled stress, viral pathogens and other threats, the body often has a hard time turning off the galectin-3 alarm. Galectin-3 stays active when we’re experiencing stress, injury, illness, infections, toxins, or other triggers, and continues fueling inflammation and fibrosis (uncontrolled scar tissue build-up) which leads to organ failure premature aging and chronic disease.4

This is the essence of the survival paradox—and the title of my new book that gives a unparalleled, research-based model on how to reverse course on premature aging and chronic disease, and uncover your deepest healing abilities.

Health Impacts of Galectin-3

Here are just some of the ways research shows that too much galectin-3 can derail your health and shorten your life:

  • Cause neurological dysfunction and reduce brain power—by causing neuroinflammation and damage
  • Cause organ failure—by fueling uncontrolled inflammation and scarring (fibrosis) in vital organs including your heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, and more
  • Fuel cancer growth and metastasis—by allowing cancer cells to stick together, creating blood vessel supply to feed the tumor, metastasize, and evade the immune system.
  • Cause metabolic diseases—by fueling inflammation and free radical damage, and contributing to glucose imbalance and insulin resistance
  • Damage immune function—by inhibiting immune surveillance against cancer and other pathogens, and fueling inflammatory immune overreactions like autoimmune flare-ups and cytokine storms.
  • Speed up aging—by fueling inflammatory conditions and oxidative damage to cells, tissues and organs.

We’ve all been there. Being stuck in survival mode means you’re experiencing a prolonged stress state—and your body is being flooded with stress hormones and other inflammatory compounds designed to support your innate fight or flight system.

Biohacking the Body’s Biochemical Stress Responses

While designed to keep you alive, your body’s survival response can end up doing just the opposite—unless you can hack this alarm system and make it work for you, rather than against you.

By blocking galectin-3, and using other methods like regular meditation to quiet your internal alarm system, you can do just that. In fact, research shows that meditation practice can reduce the expression of galectin-3.5 Study after study shows that controlling galectin-3’s activity is the key to long-term health and longevity.

Because of its unmatched ability to disarm galectin-3, Modified Citrus Pectin is shown to deliver powerful health benefits including:

  • Healthy inflammation responses and support against inflammaging
  • Support against cancer growth and metastasis
  • Balanced, regulated immune responses
  • Reduced Herxhiemer detox reactions
  • Cardiovascular protection and support
  • Kidney and liver support
  • Improved brain function
  • Support for healthy weight and metabolism
  • Improved joint health and mobility
  • Greater energy and vitality
  • and more…

Combined with healthy stress relief practices, Modified Citrus Pectin can help prevent the damage of your inflammatory survival responses, and reduce the unhealthy expression of galectin-3. This type of comprehensive holistic approach can help you master your biochemical stress responses, and unlock your innate healing abilities. By addressing galectin-3 from different angles, you can build a solid foundation to support long-term health and healing, and reverse numerous disease processes, safely and naturally.
