True Microbiome Gut Support—The Key to Greater Health and Vitality

Probiotic bacteria are proving to be more than friendly—they’re showing up as our greatest allies for long-term health and vitality. Fascinating research into the human microbiome continues to astound and impress with newly discovered benefits and essential disease-fighting actions.

And it goes far beyond digestion.

From bone strength, to lung function, to cognitive ability, mood support, chemotherapy efficacy and much more—discoveries into the far-reaching benefits of probiotic bacteria are leading to innovative, personalized approaches for treating chronic conditions and optimizing your health and vitality.

Cultural Microbiome Gut Support

Humans have been enjoying the benefits of probiotics in the form of cultured, fermented foods for millennia. Yogurt, sauerkraut, miso from soybeans, and many other types of traditional fermented foods are prized for their longevity-promoting abilities. Today, many probiotics are available as supplements and recommended as solutions for digestive health and other areas.

But the truth is, the vast majority of today’s probiotics do not offer real benefits, because they aren’t able to successfully colonize your GI tract. In fact, published research—as well as my own clinical experience—shows that roughly two thirds of people don’t experience any beneficial effects from regular probiotic supplements.1

A Revolutionary New Approach in Microbiome Gut Support

In my clinical practice, I’d seen these same issues with probiotics not working—until I discovered another way to formulate them.

What I found is that when live probiotic strains are combined with potent digestive herbs and prebiotic nutrients in a fermented liquid blend, it creates a powerful living formula that works quickly to provide digestive relief and support—even for long-term digestive problems and inflammatory GI conditions.

The fermentation process promotes an ideal gut pH environment for the probiotics to thrive in, while the prebiotic nutrients in the formula—clinically researched Modified Citrus Pectin—feed the good bacteria with superfood they need to flourish. Lastly, the digestive herbs in the formula are activated by fermentation, and offer powerful support for healthy digestive function and an optimal GI environment.

This synergistic, botanically-enhanced pre + probiotic formula is unlike any other probiotic I’ve used to support optimal digestion, and numerous other areas of health.

This is Your Brain on Probiotics to Support Microbiome Gut Support

Traditional Chinese medicine and other time-honored medical systems recognize that there are direct links between your digestive health and your brain (and neurological) function. Today, compelling research continues to confirm these links. For example, we now know that a large percentage of brain neurotransmitter activity actually occurs in the digestive tract. Experts often refer to your gut as “the second brain” because of these vast interconnections.

It turns out that your internal microbes directly influence brain and neurological health, including mood and cognitive function.  One human study showed that the probiotics in yogurt can exert measurable changes on brain activity. Results suggest that daily intake of probiotic foods daily can reduce anxiety and stress and may also reduce pain, by regulating specific areas of brain activity.2

Another study demonstrated a correlation between higher levels of probiotic bacteria in the gut, and reduced risk of stroke. Study authors suggest that the probiotic bacteria which produce carotenoid antioxidants, can help protect against cardiovascular disease.3

One fascinating new study shows that the health of your microbiome can help determine the integrity of your blood-brain barrier—your brain’s main defense against invading pathogens and toxins. The study showed that a metabolite produced by probiotic bacteria in the colon, helps fight infection and protect the blood-brain barrier from oxidative stress.4

Microbiome Gut Support and Protection During Chemotherapy

A preclinical study suggests that probiotics may protect cancer patients from the side effects of high dose chemotherapy. A drug called RSPO1 is shown to stimulate new cell growth in the intestines and protect against the harmful, immune-suppressing effects of chemotherapy. Probiotics mimic this effect by promoting optimal function of intestinal cells and activating genes that promote healthy intestinal cell regeneration.

Bacteria for Bone Health

Another study showed that probiotic supplements helped protect against osteoporosis and bone loss in male mice. Previously, researchers showed that inflammation in the gut can lead to bone loss. In this study from the Journal of Cellular Physiology, researchers showed that the probiotic Lactobacillus reuteri, which reduces inflammation, significantly increased bone density in male mice after four weeks of treatment. While researchers didn’t see the same results in female mice, another clinical study published in the Journal of Applied Nutrition showed that women who took a high quality Japanese probiotic supplement for at least 8 weeks, increased their bone density up to 36% compared to those who didn’t take the probiotic.

Microbiome Gut Support in Weight Loss

A clinical study published in the British Journal of Nutrition showed that specific probiotic bacteria called Lactobacillus gasseri, reduced visceral fat in people by up to 9% after 12 weeks of drinking milk with that specific strain.Researchers suggest that the anti-inflammatory and digestive-supporting benefits of this probiotic strain may have been responsible this weight loss. Other studies have also suggested that certain probiotic strains can aid in promoting optimal healthy weight.

Cultivating Healthy Communities in Microbiome Gut Support

As research continues, fascinating evidence is adding to our understanding of the extensive health-promoting benefits offered by a healthy microbiome.

Probiotics colonize and support many other areas of the body beyond the intestinal tract: They’re found in diverse communities populating the lungs, skin, mouth, and other areas of the body where they work to support immunity, fight harmful invaders, and produce essential nutrients for optimal health. Strong, efficient digestion is the foundation of long term wellness, and a healthy microbiome is the most essential component. After all, we now know that bacteria outnumber human cells in the body by 10:1. It’s time to reach out and support these vital communities.
